Caching layers, session stores, rate limiting, queues, and vector search at low latency — anywhere sub-millisecond response matters.

Avoid when

Cost-sensitive caching workloads — Upstash Redis or self-hosted Valkey are cheaper for smaller footprints.

What is Redis Cloud?

Redis Cloud is the managed service from Redis Inc. covering open-source Redis and Redis Stack (JSON, Search, Vector, Time Series, Bloom). Available on AWS, Azure, and GCP with active-active geo-replication and 99.999% SLA. Following the 2024 license change to RSALv2/SSPLv1, some users moved to the Valkey fork (under Linux Foundation), but Redis Cloud remains the commercial default.
