Use when

Platform teams that want a CLI-first, controller-based GitOps foundation and plan to extend or compose with other Kubernetes tooling.

Avoid when

Teams that value a polished UI and out-of-the-box visual dashboards — Argo CD is friendlier for app developers.

What is Flux?

Flux is a CNCF graduated GitOps engine composed of modular controllers (source, kustomize, helm, notification, image automation). Unlike Argo CD's bundled UI, Flux is CLI- and controller-first, which appeals to platform engineers building on top of Kubernetes primitives. It also handles image tag automation natively, so new container builds can be promoted without manual manifest edits.

Key features
