Use when

Large hourly-intensive employers (retail, healthcare, hospitality) with union rules and complex scheduling where real-time pay calculation matters.

Avoid when

Knowledge-work companies with simple salaried payrolls — the WFM power is wasted. Also not ideal for global-first hiring (use Deel/Rippling).

What is Dayforce?

Dayforce (rebranded from Ceridian Dayforce in 2024) is a full HCM suite targeting mid-market and enterprise customers. Its key technical differentiator is a single continuous-calculation engine — rather than batch-processing payroll at period end, it recomputes pay in real time as schedules, punches, and rates change. This is valuable for complex hourly workforces with union rules, shift premiums, and meal-break compliance. Strong on workforce management (WFM), weaker on global payroll reach than ADP.
